Wedding Rings: Choosing the Perfect Wedding Ring

May 26th, 2011 Author: Brides

Perhaps one of the most important types of rings that you will have to purchase is a wedding ring. Besides engagement rings, wedding rings are probably the most crucial of all ring purchases. The symbolism behind a ring of this type is so great that choosing a perfect ring is a very important task. There are many decisions a couple needs to make with regard to choosing wedding rings. Things such as metal type, style and size are part of this decision-making process. Another factor couples consider when purchasing wedding rings is price as they are often paying quite a bit on other wedding necessities. This article will provide an overview on various choices that come into play when choosing the perfect wedding band.
Type of Metal

Using the term metal alongside the word wedding band is not the most romantic thing in the world; however, the ring is indeed composed of a metallic material and one has a wide range of options when looking to purchase a particular type of wedding band. Gold is one type of material that a couple may choose to have their wedding rings made of. Rings made of gold come in either white gold or yellow gold in a variety of karats, i.e., 10 karat, 14 karat, or 24 karat. Another popular type of metal that wedding rings are composed of is platinum. Platinum wedding bands have become increasingly more desirable in the past few years. Platinum rings tend to be pricier than gold ones; however, it is a beautiful metal type that is strong as well. If it will not empty your pocketbook or wallet, platinum is a great choice for a wedding ring.
Size and Style

Couples in pursuit of the perfect wedding rings will also find that they come in a variety of sizes and styles. Almost any wedding band can be sized to adequately fit the finger of any individual. If you can find the perfect-sized ring without having to alter the size thereafter, then that is your best bet as frequent sizing of a ring may alter the strength thereof (this is usually only true if you have the ring sized more than once).

There are also a number of different unique and exquisite styles of wedding rings for both men and women. If you go to a jewelry store, you may be surprised at just how many different styles of wedding bands are available to the general consumer. You can have the rings engraved or even embedded with diamonds and other gemstones. Baguettes are becoming increasingly popular for women’s wedding rings and these beautiful additions add so much to a basic ring. Some wedding rings will have various types of gems inlayed in them and individuals may sometimes choose to have their birthstone as part of their wedding ring to add a little something extra to it. There is so much that you can do to make your wedding rings unique and special.
Price

Another less romantic factor that couples need to consider when purchasing a wedding ring relates to pricing. As individuals are oftentimes on a strict budget while planning their wedding, they may have to set a limit of how much they are able to spend on wedding rings. There are a few ways to get the most bang for your buck when shopping for wedding bands.

End of season sales are a great way to take advantage of large discounts and still get the ring that you want. A lot of times a jewelry store or department store will have an end of season clearance sale on various types of jewelry, including wedding rings. By taking advantage of these types of sales, you may find the perfect ring at a great price. It is always important to keep an eye out for retailers who are having clearance sales.

Utilizing coupons is a second way to keep the total price of your wedding ring purchase to a minimum. Department stores will often print coupons in their mail circulars that may give you a good percentage off of the price of jewelry and since many department stores stock wedding rings, this is a great thing to take advantage of.

One last way to get a good price on wedding rings is to use the internet to find the perfect ring. Since shopping for a wedding ring over the internet may not appeal to all individuals, it is important to be aware of a certain little trick that will enable you to get a good price over the internet but choose your ring in a retail store. If you are in a particular store and see a wedding ring that strikes your fancy, try it on, find the perfect size and then go home and see if that store has a website. If they do, take a look online and see if that particular ring is offered at a lower price via the web. Sometimes you will get lucky, other times you won’t. Regardless, it never hurts to take a peek and see.

These are just a few things to consider when trying to find the perfect ring. If you know what your options are prior to securing wedding rings, you will be more informed and feel better prepared in your quest for the most spectacular wedding ring.

Building a Beach Wedding Reception Even if You Don’t Live Near a Beach!

May 15th, 2011 Author: Brides

Just because you don’t live near a beach doesn’t mean you can’t have a beach wedding reception. If you do live near a beach, great but, with the abundance of beach wedding favors and accessories available there is no reason you can’t build a wedding reception that fits your passion and style – even out in the salt flats of Nevada, or the prairies of the Dakota’s! And it’s true regardless of whether your idea of beach wedding favors include sea shell and sea life themed favors, lighthouse, or sailboat themed wedding favors. Beach wedding receptions are a fun way to celebrate your marriage regardless of where you live.

After the wedding cake, the centerpiece on the master table at the wedding reception is the most important piece of art in your wedding reception. Since sand is common to all beach themes start building your beach wedding reception with a sandcastle sculpture actually made of sand (but firmed with a binding agent to hold your sculpture in place) for the centerpiece of the head table.

For the remaining tables at your beach wedding reception either choose another handcrafted sand sculpture or a candle surrounded by sea shells either chocolate or authentic. You could also use starfish shaped soaps, but probably shouldn’t mix the soaps and the chocolates or someone will end up eating a soap – yuck!

Cut your wedding cake with an engraved, beach themed Cake Serving Set. Likewise, serve Hor d’Oeuvres with Hor d’Oeuvre picks toped with seashells.

Finish your beach wedding reception theme with your choice of beach favors to express your love to your friends and family and help them to remember the day they spent at the beach regardless of your location or the season! You could choose place card holders that look like palm trees, flip flops, Adirondack chairs, a summer handbag, a light house, or even a sail boat – and place card holders have the added benefit of letting you stretch your budget by doing double duty in identifying assigned seats as well as being a wedding favor. Or you could choose any number of other beach themed favors such as sailboat tea light holders, shell and starfish salt and pepper shakers, lighthouse wine charms, sea shell themed coasters, flip flop playing cards, miniature beach pails, or sea shell spreader sets.

The possibilities are enormous so mix and match. But most of all have fun with your beach wedding reception. It is after all, your wedding. Make it memorable and make it yours.

Bridal Jewelry to Wear Again and Again

May 9th, 2011 Author: Brides

You want your bridal jewelry to make an impression, while not interfering with the “wow factor” of the wedding gown. For some brides, their bridal jewelry exists to be worn at their wedding. Then it goes into the jewelry box or safe to never be worn again. That is just not right!

You took a lot of time choosing the bridal jewelry. It should be a memento that you can wear over and over again. Every time you put it on, you will remember your special day that you became someone’s wife. The cake gets eaten and forgotten. The flowers eventually wilt and die. Your wedding dress gets preserved in the hopes that you can pass it down to your own little girl some day. But your bridal jewelry, that is something you can take out time after time to enjoy. Liken it to the pictures in a photo album. You can relive those moments, then put them away to treasure for another time.

Pearls are often a part of the bridal jewelry. They are classy, elegant and have a timeless quality. No matter what setting it is in – gold, silver or platinum – bridal jewelry pearls can accentuate your features and your wedding dress. Not all pearls are created equal. There are a number of color variations, so you may have to bring your wedding dress with you when selecting your bridal jewelry. A warm, creamy color is one variation of pearls. Another variety has a pinkish hue.

When considering other bridal jewelry options, think about the design of your wedding dress. The neckline is important in your decision of bridal jewelry. If the neckline is high, you can choose a necklace with a special pendant or charm. Perhaps there is no neckline and the wedding gown is strapless. Your choice of bridal jewelry would then be a choker and possibly earrings to match. If the neckline is low or open, you could wear a necklace with complementary earrings. You could forget about the necklace part entirely if the wedding gown is very ornate in the front. If that is the case, then earrings are your best bet in bridal jewelry.

Another thing to think about in selecting bridal jewelry is whether or not the dress is really ornate and elaborate. If it is, perhaps a basic, understated bridal jewelry set is your choice. A simple dress with casual, elegant lines calls for more sophisticated bridal jewelry.

Feeling a bit funky? Punch up your bridal jewelry with a little color. Highlight the wedding colors in your necklace, bracelet and/or earrings. Colorizing your bridal jewelry gives you more options to wear them after the wedding is over too.

Shop around. If you are near a jewelry store while running errands, pop in and browse. Sometimes finding the right bridal jewelry for you will happen when you least expect it. Or, you can sketch out your vision of what you want your bridal jewelry to look like. A business that custom crafts jewelry could probably make what you want. Of course, there is always a higher cost involved for original work.
Just remember, you are the star of the wedding. The bride and wedding dress usually are. Your bridal jewelry reflects the inner you, so wear something that speaks to your heart. Pick something that you can wear again and again. Your memories, thanks to the bridal jewelry, are priceless.

Planning Your Wedding Party Reception

April 25th, 2011 Author: Brides

Your wedding party reception should bring you a lot of happy memories when you look at your wedding pictures later on. Therefore you have to plan it that everything should look, feel and work out as you have perceived it to be.

As the wedding reception is basically a celebration after your wedding ceremony, keep in mind that above all, you ought to enjoy it and savour every moment of it.

Things to do before the wedding party:

1. Decide where to host the reception. Take into consideration the comfort of the place that will host your reception. When you want your wedding reception party to be held in a garden or outdoors, always consider these factors: wind, rain and humidity. Require the hotel to put up tents attractively decorated with flowers and lighting to solve the problems of rain as it also adds to the mood of the party.

2. Choose the decorations, most specially the flowers. Talk to the florist of your choice about what you want, where you want it, how you want it and what kind of atmosphere you wish to create in your wedding reception.

Make sure that aside from decorating the place, the florist must work together and coordinate with your food caterer so both can complement each other.

3. Choosing the caterer. Here again, make sure that you know what you want before selecting a caterer for your food.

To whatever decision that you will make, the caterer should understand all that you are envisioning in your wedding party reception. When he easily understands, it means that you both can work easily together, with peace!

4. Choose the wedding cake. When selecting a wedding cake, make certain that it goes with the motif of your wedding reception. Consider your colour motif as well as the style of your wedding. Choose it well, as the cake often is the centre of attraction of the reception, aside from you (the bride) of course.

5. Decide on the music. Select the style of music that best conforms to the style and again, the motif of your wedding reception.

Normally, it begins as a background, making the music slow and soft as the beat picks up encouraging everybody to dance after the meal.

Decreasing the music speed as well as slowing down the volume usually signals the conclusion of the celebration.

During the reception:

Just sit back, relax and enjoy your wedding party. Go dance, and have the best time ever with your husband and with your loved ones!
